Emergencies happen all the time on the road, anything from small bumps to serious collisions. Even if they are not related to road accidents, like a flat tire, you should always be prepared. That's why we have made a short list with five of the most essential items you should take with you anywhere, in case of an emergency.
1. First Aid Kit
A well-prepared first aid kit can be very handy in certain situations. Usually, they contain everything needed to take care of wounds or even broken bones. Make sure to buy one and leave it in the trunk of your car or near the driver's seat for ease of access.
2. Jumper Cables
Jumper cables can help you get your battery back to life or help someone else on the road. While they can take up a little bit more space, they are extremely handy in those situations.
3. Spare Tire
Spare tires are commonly left at home because they take up space and are inconvenient to store. Despite these slight issues, keeping your spare tire with you at all times can get you out of a lot of frustrating situations. This especially applies to people who like to go camping or drive to the backcountry.
4. Small Tool Kit
A small, well-equipped toolkit comes in handy when talking about roadside repairs. Caring for all of the necessary tools needed for quickly repairing your car or even changing a wheel should be a must.
5. Reflective Vest
While it may sound funny at first, a reflective vest is a must-have safety item. If you get stranded in the middle of nowhere, a reflective vest will make you stand out from the pitch-dark road. Make sure to throw one or two of them in the back; they don't take up a lot of space and can prevent serious accidents.
